HomeAbout UsJames Butler

James is an open, engaging and challenging coach who has worked internationally with clients of varied business or personal backgrounds on a wide range of challenges.  His deepest passion is fostering entrepreneurial spirit in managers, whether in small businesses or in multi-national corporations.

His previous corporate experience in the environmental sector saw him build a reputation for providing top-end consultancy services, with a market-leading focus on customer service and stakeholder engagement.  He oversaw the growth of one business unit from start-up to almost £10 million turnover and this is where his drive and passion for business growth and improvement flourished.

In 2002 he took his skills and experience into the coaching arena and ever since has supported clients in transforming their futures through his positive nature, good humour, spirit of discovery and his proven coaching skills.  Since then James has authored three books providing a coaching approach to business development and has coached for two of Europe’s leading business schools, on their programmes for entrepreneurs.  James is a graduate of Coach U and a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation.

Equally comfortable with clients on a one-to-one basis, or coaching teams as a group, James insists on understanding the business objectives of any coaching intervention, and retains a focus on that throughout any programme of work.  He has worked with very small businesses and multi-billion turnover giants, always looking to develop better managers and leaders, throughout the business.

For over two years James has been providing coaching to a global information provider in the finance sector, working with managers at all levels in Europe and Asia, developing the organisation’s capability for strategic thinking and better execution.  James says his most interesting coaching project was from 2006 to 2008, working with a global pharmaceutical company in Hungary.  With a German corporate culture, a Latin American General Manager and native Hungarians to coach it was an excellent example of cross-cultural team development, and demonstrated the power of simple coaching questions – when the clients were speaking in their second or third language!
